Job description

Location- Ireland (Dublin) or London (UK) Working pattern: Flexible approach required for occasional out-of-hours maintenance, project work and critical incidents. Very occasional travel, expected to be 10–25% maximum. Why Confluence? At Confluence, we’ve always been driven by a commitment to innovation, precision, and partnership in the investment data space.

Our global footprint now spans multiple countries, giving our employees the opportunity to get exposure to other countries and cultures. And it stands to reason that none of this would have been possible without the hundreds of hard-working employees who work at Confluence. About the role We’re looking for a Senior IT Infrastructure Administrator – Networking to join Confluence in a hands-on, senior networking role supporting enterprise infrastructure initiatives from design through implementation and into steady-state operations.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining project delivery with operational ownership — designing robust solutions, embedding them into support, and acting as a trusted technical escalation point for complex networking issues. You’ll play a key role in our network transformation programme, supporting cloud migration initiatives and SD-WAN deployment across a global environment.

Why apply? This is more than a traditional network support role. You’ll have end-to-end involvement across design, implementation, optimisation and troubleshooting, with the opportunity to influence technical decisions and shape the future of our infrastructure landscape. You’ll act as a Subject Matter Expert across networking technologies, helping to build internal capability, mentor colleagues and reduce reliance on third-party vendors.

What you'll be doing Delivering and supporting enterprise infrastructure projects from design through implementation and into operational support. Acting as a networking SME across troubleshooting, optimisation and knowledge sharing. Supporting strategic initiatives including cloud migration and SD-WAN implementation. Serving as a senior technical escalation point for complex networking issues.

Driving improvements in network performance, resilience and operational efficiency. Maintaining infrastructure health through firmware updates, patching and configuration management. Supporting knowledge transfer and mentoring less experienced team members. Collaborating with infrastructure, security and technology teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Essential requirements Strong hands-on experience with Cisco enterprise networking technologies, including Firepower, ISE and SD-WAN solutions (Viptela/Catalyst). Deep understanding of enterprise network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs and load balancers. Minimum of 8 years' experience within enterprise IT infrastructure or networking environments.

Strong expertise with routing protocols including BGP, OSPF and EIGRP across multi-site environments. Proven ability to design, implement and transition infrastructure solutions into production. Hands-on experience in incident management, root cause analysis and issue resolution. Strong troubleshooting mindset with the ability to resolve complex networking issues independently.

Understanding of how networking impacts wider infrastructure, security, virtualisation and database environments. Experience acting as a senior technical escalation point and mentoring other engineers. Desirable requirements Experience within SaaS or cloud-based environments. Exposure to virtualisation technologies such as VMware. Experience with enterprise storage platforms, including NetApp.

Scripting or automation experience using PowerShell, Python, Terraform or Ansible. Cisco certifications such as CCNP or CCIE. Experience supporting cloud migration or infrastructure modernisation programmes. Previous SD-WAN implementation experience.
