We are Mobilise
Not doable from Austria

Country assessment

Not doable from Austria because the employer's own board marks it as not remote.

Our assessment is guidance. Confirm arrangements with the employer.

Job description

We Are Mobilise is Australia's direct giving platform for homelessness. Funders put money in, it moves through a national network of 50+ charity partners, and it lands as rent paid and housing secured - tracked and verified the whole way through.

It started in 2016 with two people and bags of bread, having conversations with people sleeping rough in Melbourne's CBD. It's now an ACNC-registered national charity working toward Project 10,000: housing outcomes for 10,000 people by 2030.

The role

Marketing currently sits with Noah, the founder, fitted in around running the organisation. During the Triple J Hottest 100 campaign he was planning interviews, organising shots, grabbing presenters and coordinating social content himself. Donations were up 50 per cent year on year, which is a good problem, but it's not a sustainable way for a CEO to spend a weekend.

This role takes marketing on properly. It's broad, it's hands on, and there's no team underneath you. What you set up, you run.

What you'd own

  • Paid media. Meta at around $10k a month, a $10k a month Google Ad Grant, plus TikTok, LinkedIn and Substack. Circa $20k a month all up. Building campaigns, briefing and testing creative, managing budget, adjusting in-account
  • Email. Building, sending, reporting, and looking after list health and segmentation
  • Website and conversion. Making the pages people land on actually convert
  • Content. Helping shape what goes out and appearing in it. You'd have editing support, but you do need to be comfortable on camera

You'll probably fit if

  • You've got two to seven years behind you and you're still hungry
  • You've run paid yourself - Meta, Google, the lot - not briefed someone else to
  • Email doesn't scare you. Neither does a landing page that isn't converting
  • You'll get in front of a camera when the campaign needs it
  • You've worked somewhere good and seen what good looks like
  • You've done something of your own on the side, or you want to
  • You are keen to get stuck into the mission (willing to work onsite majority of the work week)

You probably won't if

  • You're looking to build a team. There isn't one and there won't be
  • You need a defined lane and a settled plan

Noah holds the strategy today and you'd work to him, so this isn't a role where you'd arrive owning it. There's plenty of room to grow into more as you learn the accounts and the organisation.

Google Ad Grants experience is a bonus, not a must. It isn't far off Meta.

What it's like here

  • It's fast. Priorities change, the organisation looks different every year, and the team is small enough that everyone is close to everything.
  • What keeps people here is the impact. You hear what happens to program participants, and you can see the line between what you did this week and what changed for someone. Alongside that there's exposure you wouldn't get in a normal marketing job, from studio days during the Hottest 100 to campaigns with people doing wild things across the country to support the mission.
  • Targets aren't set in stone before you start. You and Noah would agree what good looks like in the first months, once you've been in the accounts and can see what's actually there.
  • We're an in-the-room team based in Melbourne CBD. Five days is the default and it's a big part of how this place works, though for the right person we'd look at four.
