Job description

About Woven by Toyota
Woven by Toyota is enabling Toyota’s once-in-a-century transformation into a mobility company. Inspired by a legacy of innovating for the benefit of others, our mission is to challenge the current state of mobility through human-centric innovation — expanding what “mobility” means and how it serves society.

Our work centers on four pillars: AD/ADAS, our autonomous driving and advanced driver assist technologies; Arene, our software development platform for software-defined vehicles; Woven City, a test course for mobility; and Cloud & AI, the digital infrastructure powering our collaborative foundation. Business-critical functions empower these teams to execute, and together, we’re working toward one bold goal: a world with zero accidents and enhanced well-being for all.

TEAM

Toyota is redefining what it means to move. We're challenging the current state of mobility by enhancing the movement of people, goods, information and energy. Centered around three core concepts - A Living Laboratory™, Human-Centered, and Ever Evolving City™ - Woven City serves as a test course for mobility to fulfill our purpose of well-being for all.

We do this by bringing together a diverse community of people with a shared passion for the future of mobility to co-create, develop and refine innovative products and services. This cross-section of social infrastructure, mobility, and people provides a unique opportunity for inventors, residents and visitors to interact seamlessly with new technologies throughout daily life in an environment that emulates a real city.

We'll expand "mobility" not only for people but also for goods or information. Regarding the mobility of things, we believe that if we can provide a service that makes moving things incredibly easy, it could potentially change our values and lifestyles. To this end, we are developing the Robot Platform—a shared infrastructure and product suite that enables diverse services to be built and operated using robots, smart devices, operations, and simulation technology. Going forward, we will collaborate with Inventors to expand platform capabilities and propose solutions, enabling customers both inside and outside Woven City to build and deliver services quickly.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for a passionate Project Manager who can identify customer needs from the Gemba and directly drive new customer acquisition and partnership development for our Smart Logistics business, especially in the B2B domain, where robot-powered logistics services are developed and sold externally.

We welcome candidates who have a proven track record of hunting new business opportunities, building relationships with corporate customers and partners from scratch, and closing deals in a B2B/solution business context. We are looking for someone with strong sales instincts and marketing sensibility, who can communicate directly with engineers and designers from different backgrounds, act autonomously even in ambiguous environments, and drive 0-to-1 customer/partner acquisition forward.

Depending on the business phase, this position may require you to change your work location from Tokyo to Susono (Woven City), or involve frequent on-site visits on a business trip basis.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute go-to-market and marketing strategies (target markets, channels, messaging, and lead generation) for the external sales of logistics-related products and services
  • Develop and build alliances with partner companies (system integrators, facility operators, robot manufacturers, logistics providers, etc.) to expand sales channels
  • Proactively identify and approach customers and inventors; build a sales pipeline from scratch by creating target account lists and designing outreach strategies
  • Lead solution proposals and sales negotiations with prospective customers; translate customer challenges into concrete logistics solutions utilizing robots, and drive deals to closure
  • Work closely with the Product Manager (PdM) and development teams to incorporate customer insights and market demands into the product roadmap

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in sales, business development, or marketing (especially in B2B/solution businesses)
  • Hands-on experience in formulating and executing Go-to-Market (GTM) or marketing strategies (e.g. target market definition, channel design, lead generation) for products/services
  • Basic knowledge of finance and accounting, with the ability to clearly explain ROI and cost-effectiveness to customers
  • Hands-on experience in customer negotiation, deal closing, or building alliances and relationships with partner companies
  • High-level business Japanese and English skills that enable smooth communication with customers/Inventors

NICE TO HAVES

  • Experience in designing viable partnership/alliance schemes by aligning the complex interests of multiple stakeholders with differing positions
  • Experience working closely with product/development teams (PdMs, engineers, etc.) to feed back market/customer requirements into product planning
  • Experience in robotics, mobility, logistics, IoT, smart cities, or urban infrastructure domains
